Broadfield has recently welcomed two new Partners; Michiel Visser from Sidley Austin, and Patrick Flanagan from Cooley. The additions add to the 11 lateral Partners the firm has added in the last six months. Michiel Visser joins to serve as Head of Private Equity for Broadfield Americas and will sit on the firm’s executive committee. His practice includes advising private equity sponsors, sovereign wealth funds, family offices and corporations on mergers, divestures, acquisitions, joint ventures, minority investments, restructurings, business combinations and corporate governance. Meanwhile, Patrick Flanagan focuses his practice on leveraged finance and acquisition financings. He advises private equity sponsors and financial institutions on domestic and cross-border financings, including first-lien and second-lien facilities, mezzanine financings, growth capital loans, recapitalizations and workouts.
In an article for The American Lawyer and Law.com, Michiel Visser and Patrick Flanagan discuss what drew them to Broadfield’s platform, highlighting the flexibility it offers in serving clients and building their practices. Christopher Hagenbuch also comments on the firm’s continued growth strategy and commitment to strategic lateral hiring.
“We’re in the middle of a revolution, or maybe at the early stages of a revolution in the way we all work, and that very much includes the delivery of professional services. It’s become increasingly obvious to me the last few years that I wanted to be at a platform that is responsive to that and that wants to be part of that revolution.”
