Modern Slavery Statement
Introduction
Broadfield Law UK LLP is a Limited Liability Partnership, incorporated in 2006, that operates as an autonomous member of an international network supported by Alvarez & Marsal. We are a multi-disciplinary law firm advising private companies, public sector bodies, not-for-profit organisations, and individuals. Our success has been built through developing long-standing relationships with our clients. We listen to our clients so that we can understand their business objectives or life goals in order that we provide not only excellent technical advice, but a complete solution.
Operating from our London, Reading, and Southampton offices, we work with clients across the UK and internationally.
Our organisational structure comprises partners, legal professionals, and business support teams working collaboratively across departments. Our supply chains primarily include professional services, IT providers, office services, recruitment agencies, and facilities management suppliers.
We have built a culture that is supportive and proactive. These qualities permeate through our internal relations as well as our client service. We encourage discussion, questioning, and collaboration across all departments.
Our commitment to a diverse and positive business environment is reflected in the quality of service we provide, with both lawyers and all other staff committed to success.
Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
Broadfield is committed to acting responsibly in all our activities and to upholding the high standards expected of the profession. Slavery and human trafficking have no place in our business or supply chains.
Policies in Relation to Slavery and Human Trafficking
We maintain a number of internal policies that support our commitment to ethical conduct and the prevention of modern slavery, including:
- Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy
- Whistleblowing Policy
- Global Procurement Policy
- Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy
- Recruitment & Selection Policy
- Speaking Up Policy
We will not act for clients where it is illegal or inappropriate for us to do so.
Due Diligence Processes
We have systems in place to monitor clients, matters, and suppliers that may present elevated risk. Our due diligence processes include:
- Risk-based client and matter acceptance procedures
- Screening of suppliers during procurement processes
- Background screening of all employees, partners, agency workers and consultants.
- Ongoing monitoring of business relationships where appropriate
- Escalation procedures for high-risk matters
Our recruitment process includes due diligence measures such as verifying right to work, carrying out appropriate UK and international background checks, and engaging only with approved and reputable recruitment agencies.
Partners and employees are required to report any known or suspected breaches of laws or ethical standards.
Risk Assessment and Management
Given the nature of our business as a UK-based professional services firm, we consider the risk of modern slavery within our direct operations to be low. However, potential risks may arise within our supply chains, particularly in:
- Facilities management and cleaning services
- IT hardware and equipment supply
- Outsourced administrative or support services
We mitigate these risks by:
- Engaging reputable, established suppliers
- Conducting proportionate due diligence
- Building long-term relationships with trusted providers
- Requiring suppliers to adhere to our ethical standards
Effectiveness and Performance Indicators
We assess the effectiveness of our approach through:
- Monitoring compliance with internal policies and procedures
- Reviewing any reported incidents or concerns
- Tracking completion rates of mandatory training
- Periodic review of supplier relationships and procurement processes
To date, no instances of slavery or human trafficking have been identified within our business or supply chains.
Training and Capacity Building
We provide training to partners and employees on professional and ethical standards, including:
- Anti-money laundering
- Bribery and corruption
- Awareness of modern slavery risks and reporting obligations
Modern Slavery training is included within our mandatory training, which applies employees and partner and is required to be completed and refreshed annually.
Our Commitment
We are committed to ensuring that slavery and human trafficking have no place in our business or in our supply chain. We will continue to review and improve our policies, procedures, and training to support this commitment.
This statement has been approved by the Board of Broadfield Law UK LLP and will be reviewed annually. It is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our firm’s slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 31 March 2025
