Broadfield Advises Premier Marinas on the Acquisition of Boatfolk

30 September 2025

Broadfield has advised Premier Marinas on its acquisition of Boatfolk, a national network of eleven coastal marinas across the UK. The transaction, funded by Premier Marinas’ long-term owner The Wellcome Trust, creates a combined portfolio of 22 locations and confirms Premier Marinas as a leading marina operator in the UK.

Premier Marinas has stated that Boatfolk will continue to operate largely unchanged in the near term while plans are developed to align the two businesses and deliver benefits for customers. The combined group includes additional marinas in Portsmouth, Portland, Weymouth, East Cowes, Penarth, Conwy, Royal Quays, Portishead, Deacons, Rhu, and Bangor, alongside Premier Marinas’ existing sites on the south coast.

Broadfield’s multidisciplinary team, including Partners Oliver Kelly, James Barnett, Sean Kelly, Brian Gegg, Consultant John Newton, Solicitor David Crease and Solicitor Apprentice Fin McKenzie, supported Premier Marinas on corporate, real estate, regulatory, and employment matters to completion.

“We are delighted to have been working with Premier Marinas for many years supporting their growth across the region. This transaction has further solidified their leadership in the market and marked an exciting step on their journey. Broadfield has a strong track record in acting for clients on their acquisitions and mergers, and we are looking forward to continuing supporting Premier Marinas on their future endeavours.”
