Vacation Schemes

Get a real taste of life at Broadfield through our immersive vacation schemes. Over the course of two weeks, vacation scheme students work alongside our lawyers on live matters and gain an insight into our culture and clients. It’s more than just work experience — it’s an opportunity for candidates to see if they would like to train at Broadfield and to show us their potential.

Structure

Our paid vacation schemes take place from 1st – 12th June 2026 in our London and Reading offices.

After a comprehensive induction, vacation scheme students will experience two different practice areas as well as completing skills development workshops and networking opportunities.

Students could be asked to attend client meetings and take notes, complete research tasks, draft correspondence to clients or review documents for various cases. Students are assigned a supervisor for each seat and will be supported by their wider team, their Trainee buddy and the Early Talent team.

Vacation scheme students are paid the Living Wage for the area that they are working in.

Recruitment

Applications for the 2026 summer vacation schemes are now open and close on 1st February 2026.

Our recruitment process is made up of an online application form including essay style questions focussing on your motivation for a career in law and working at Broadfield. We understand that candidates will use AI tools to help research, structure or proof-read their application, but applications that rely too heavily on AI will not score well, as our assessment is based on genuine personal experiences and authentic reflections.

If your application is successful, you’ll be invited to a pre-recorded video interview for us to get to know you better. We make offers for the vacation scheme following the video interview stage.

If you receive positive feedback during your vacation scheme, you will be invited to an in-person assessment centre held at the end of June. Training contract offers will be made shortly after this.
