About
Tom Burke is a Senior Managing Associate in Broadfield’s Restructuring & Insolvency practice area, based in Hong Kong. Tom has a broad range of experience leading complex cross-border restructuring processes, along with commercial litigation and contentious insolvency matters.
Tom has advised debtors, sponsors, creditors and other stakeholders in respect of a broad range of restructuring processes, including schemes of arrangement, UK restructuring plans, pre-packaged administrations, enforcement processes, liability management and contingency planning. Notable examples of Tom’s recent work include the restructuring of Sino-Ocean Group by way of a UK restructuring plan and Hong Kong scheme of arrangement, and the restructuring of Kaisa Group Holdings by way of four schemes of arrangement across three jurisdictions.
Before joining Broadfield, Tom was a Managing Associate in Sidley Austin’s London restructuring team. Tom was part of the team that won “Restructuring Team of the Year” at the 25th Asia Pacific IFLR law awards, an “FT Innovative Lawyers Award 2024 for Restructuring”, and “Restructuring Team of the Year” at the London Legal Business Awards in 2023. Tom began his career at Clayton Utz, in a market-leading Restructuring & Insolvency team in Perth, Western Australia. Tom completed his Juris Doctor at the University of Western Australia, and has a Bachelor of Science majoring in mathematics and economics. He has also completed the ARITA Advanced Certification (Insolvency), the leading Australian postgraduate insolvency qualification.
