Fergus is the Practice Group Head of Broadfield Asia’s Disputes Resolution and Investigations Practice. He is a trusted advisor with extensive experience of complex, multi-jurisdictional litigation and arbitration disputes as well as crisis management and investigations, with a particular focus on private equity, capital markets, funds, M&A and shareholder disputes, trusts and fiduciary duties as well as directors’ duties, employment, banking and international trade and investment cases.

His litigation experience includes cases before the Hong Kong, English, Cayman Islands and BVI courts, including at appellate level, and his arbitration experience includes cases administered under all of the major institutional rules, as well as a number of ad hoc arbitrations. He also regularly advises on insolvency and restructuring matters and has acted for both creditor and debtor side in high profile insolvencies and restructurings in Hong Kong and elsewhere.

Fergus graduated from the University of Cambridge, St Catharine’s College, and is qualified in England & Wales and in Hong Kong, is a Solicitor Advocate in Hong Kong and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He regularly appears as an advocate, including before the Hong Kong Court in commercial injunction, arbitration and insolvency related matters and in arbitration proceedings. He also regularly contributes to pro bono initiatives.
