About
Ellen James is a commercial property lawyer with a broad practice covering all aspects of property asset management, including landlord and tenant, acquisitions, and disposals. She is known for specialising in development and property finance. Her development work involves acting for both landowners and developers in the public and private sectors, which enhances her ability to see transactions from both sides. In property finance, Ellen routinely acts for private banks taking security over UK property, often via a variety of offshore structures, which can involve many different lawyers and professional advisors in a single transaction.
Her recent transactions include advising on security for a loan facility of £15 million in a tight timescale and advising on de-enveloping arrangements to allow the transfer of a property to a beneficiary whilst protecting the bank’s interest.
Ellen is a member of both the Law Society and the Westminster Property Association.
