Chris Hagenbuch is a corporate partner who counsels clients at every stage of growth, from early-stage financings to multibillion-dollar cross-border transactions. His practice covers private equity, venture capital, and strategic M&A, serving a clientele that includes global investors and emerging technology companies. Chris offers guidance on buyouts, recapitalizations, liquidity events, and joint ventures.

His representative work includes Intel’s $16.7 billion acquisition of Altera, which was one of the largest technology deals globally in 2015, and the divestiture of a significant portion of GE Capital’s assets. Chris frequently leads deals with sovereign wealth funds, family offices, and institutional investors to guide complex global investments and exits, including PIF’s investment in Magic Leap, one of the sovereign wealth fund’s largest investments in the technology sector. His clients span the life sciences, energy, cybersecurity, software, and entertainment sectors, as well as diverse international geographies, including Latin American funds and venture-backed startups. His work involves data privacy compliance, data breaches, the crypto and digital asset industry and IP licensing matters.

Chris holds a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and dual undergraduate degrees from The Wharton School and The College at the University of Pennsylvania. He is proficient in French and remains an active speaker on M&A, venture, and tech law issues. Chris is also a sponsor and advisor for the Harvard Business School Angels of Greater New York. Before joining Broadfield, Chris was a partner in Dentons’ Venture Technology Group (VTG) and was Chair of Dentons’ Startup Program. Chris has worked at several prominent international law firms, including White & Case LLP and Kirkland & Ellis LLP.
