The English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill, which remains in draft and is due for detailed examination in the House of Lords later this month, proposes to ban upwards-only rent reviews. The proposal has sparked great debate, and for good reason.
In an article for CoStar, Lara Brand explains that by introducing the ban the Government aims to “keep small businesses running, boost local economies and job opportunities” and while these intentions are admirable, the reality is far more nuanced.
