June 2, 2026 (NEW YORK, NY) — The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award USA (Award USA), the U.S. operator of the globally recognized Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, today announced that Broadfield will serve as pro bono legal counsel to the organization as it continues its national expansion focused on youth development, workforce readiness, and educational opportunity.
Broadfield Partner Michael A. Smith, who also serves as Governance Chairman of Award USA, has played a key leadership role in supporting the organization’s strategic growth, governance, and national partnership initiatives.
Founded by HRH Prince Philip in 1956 and now active in more than 120 countries, The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award empowers young people ages 14–24 through a framework emphasizing service, skills development, physical recreation, and adventurous journeys. “Broadfield’s support represents far more than legal counsel. It reflects the growing recognition within the business and professional community that experiential learning, resilience, leadership, and workforce readiness are essential investments in the next generation.”
