The ongoing debate over assisted dying in England and Wales is gaining increasing attention, particularly with the progression of the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill 2024-2025, which is currently in the Committee stage of its journey through Parliament. The bill seeks to establish a legal ‘right to die,’ specifically addressing doctor-assisted suicide. Under this arrangement, the bill will give terminally ill adults with mental capacity who have less than 6 months to live, the right to request assistance from a doctor to end their life.
